- Sweep, dust or vacuum the floor regularly with the hard floor attachment.
- Occasionally wipe the floor with a damp mop or cloth.
- Periodically clean the floor with floor covering care products.

- Any type of buffing machine.

Hardwood Installation
Mill Direct Carpet & Floor Covering will help you every step of the way after you’ve selected your new floor. We provide:
- Professional on-site measurement
- Removal of old flooring
- Skilled installation
Before Installation
- Make sure you know who is removing your existing flooring. The installer can do it. If not, you should make arrangements to have it removed. Minimize dust by vacuuming your old flooring before it’s removed and after it's up, vacuum the floor.
- Moving the furniture. Decide in advance if you want to remove the furniture or if you want the installer to handle it. Either way, remove all fragile items from the room.
- Your hardwood should run parallel to windows or in narrow rooms to the longest wall. Added stability is achieved by installing hardwood perpendicular to floor joists.
- Measure door clearances before installation. If the new floor is thicker than your existing floor, door bottoms may rub.
- Paint first. If you’re planning to paint or wallpaper, it’s best to do it before your hardwood is installed.
During Installation
- Current flooring: A professional installer will evaluate your floor and subfloor construction and will decide whether to remove the existing flooring or install on top of it.
- Moisture testing: Proper moisture testing of the wood flooring and subfloor are required so floors won’t cup, buckle or develop gaps later.
- Installation: Using the proper equipment, installer will nail or glue boards in place, working from multiple cartons to create consistency.
- Overall quality: Professional installation ensures your floor will look beautiful and perform well over time.
